Jon Springer is a journalist and author of ONCE UPON A TEAM (Sports Publishing, May 15, 2018); METS BY THE NUMBERS (with Matthew Silverman; 2008 and 2016 (Skyhorse Publishing); and a contributor to a number of books on baseball history including WHEN POPS LED THE FAMILY (2016); THERE WAS MORE THAN GAME SIX (2016); FROM SPRING TRAINING TO SCREEN TEST (2018); and ARMCHAIR READER: GRAND SLAM BASEBALL (2007).
Jon is a graduate of the University of Delaware. A former daily newspaper sports and features writer, and editor at a monthly variety magazine, he has more than 20 years of experience covering business.
In 1998, Jon began a research project to determine the uniform number of every player in New York Mets history. That project became the acclaimed Mets by the Numbers website, and books of the same name. Now 19 years old, MBTN may be the oldest continuously operating fan-written website covering the Mets. Jon also blogs infrequently about music at Desert Island Mix Tape.
In his real job, Jon is a nationally known for his writing about the U.S. food retailing industry.
Jon lives in Brooklyn with his wife Heidi Shea, son Ivan and cats Saturn and Mars.
